The Barnesville Bicentennial
Committee has been holding monthly meetings since
October 2006.
Meetings are held the third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM at the
Senior Center. Average attendance is 18 people representing various
clubs and civic groups.
The community has been very supportive in giving donations to the
committee to fund the events coming up in 2008. The first event will
be the Kick-off on March 15 and the last will be the Wrap-up Party
on November 8.
Other events will be held each month - a Cemetery Walk, Quilt show,
Art show, Car show, Strawberry Festival, 5 K Run, Church and Home
tours, 4th of July activities at the Park, annual Barnesville Alumni
Banquet on July 5th, the Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Group with the
Traveling Memorial Wall, Square Dance, Dinners, Musical concerts,
and a Torchlight Political Rally. A Calendar will be posted each
month listing these events and others that are in the planning stage
at this time.
The Committee has several souvenir items to sell, including the
beautiful Afghan, sandstone sweat shirts and polo shirts, glass
sports mugs, pencil caddies, featuring the official Bicentennial
Logo designed by Nancy Wilson (Mrs. Steve) and a white T-Shirt
designed by Kim Taylor, a High School Art student. To price or place

Eugene Householder is Chairman of the Committee, Mary Sidwell is
Secretary and Evelyn Sampson is Treasurer.
